Fillmore Central girls team, five guys advance in golf

The Fillmore Central girls golf team won the sub-section title and advanced to the section tournament as did five guys to compete individually as a result of their performances at the sub-section golf meet last week.

Fillmore Central had the medalist in both the boys and girls competition at the sub-section tourney. Section tournament play was scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at Eastwood Golf Course, Rochester, after this edition went to press.
At sub-section competition, the Lady Falcons had a team score of 362, 37 strokes ahead of runner-up, Wabasha-Kellogg (399). Lewiston-Altura (407) was third, followed by Lanesboro (465), Houston (501), and Rushford-Peterson (564).
Individually, Katie Tammel, FC junior, had the low score in the entire field, shooting an 18-hole round of 84. Keely Todd was second with an 87. Other individual scores for the gals, included Grace Miller (93), Laura Dooney (98), Madison Scheevel (110) and Elayna Kiehne (122).
The Fillmore Central boys team (344) was third in the tournament, falling in behind Lewiston-Altura (328) and Rushford-Peterson (332). Other team scores were Lanesboro (354), Wabasha-Kellogg (399) and Kingsland (450).
Jordan Miller, FC junior, had the low score at 76. He qualified for the section tournament along with Delton Sauer (89), Trevor Barnes (89), Alex Lange (90) and Matson Kiehne (91). Connor Morem (92) missed the cut by one stroke.
The Class A state tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday, June 10 and 11, in Becker, Minn., at Pebble Creek Golf Club.
