The all-day Plainview-Elgin-Millville/Jodi Rahman Invitational brought 14 cross-country programs to Piper Hills Golf Course on Oct. 8. The venue is far from flat, featuring long gradual hills.

In the 5K boys' varsity event, Chatfield junior Christian Bance broke the tape at the 16:38 mark. He was followed across the line by Matt Schrupp of Winona Cotter, and Adam Rahn of Dover-Eyota.

Team scoring found P-E-M taking first with 60 team points. Winona Cotter was second (67), and D-E third (108). The Burro boys varsity team took 11th place.

Travis Troendle led the boys from Lanesboro/Fillmore Central, finishing 17th, Nate Eversole was 46th, Michael Harrison 58th, Casey Olson 64th, and Ben Gjere 87th. Tray Chiglo and Layton Howerton also ran the varsity race for LHS.

In the JV 5K, junior Burro Matthew Kiehne finished 28th.

The girls' varsity 4K was won by Emi Trost of Cannon Falls. Second went to Emmy Buntrock of D-E, while third place was snagged by Karen Gomez of Chatfield.

Kiera Olson took fourth place for L/FC. Teammate Leah Ruen took 19th, Emily Snyder 53rd, Jamie Rein 71st, and Heather Boyum 76th. Cami Jones also competed for the Burros.

Team results placed D-E first, P-E-M second, and Cannon Falls third. L/FC took seventh. Thirteen out of fourteen ladies' teams fielded complete squads (at least five runners). That brought the field in at 135 runners. Only St. Charles had an "incomplete."

No L/FC girls competed in in the JV 4K race or the junior high 3,200M.

In the boys' 3,200 junior high race, L/FC eighth-grader Aaron Eversole took 17th. Seventh-grader Jared Reinhardt finished 25th. Travis Sexton, Joey Lange, and Jay Bissen also competed. The Burros took seventh as a team.
