Collin O'Bieglo has been named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2014 Mabel-Canton baseball team. The Hardest Worker Award was earned by Noah Manning, while the Most Improved Player Award went to Bryce Michels.

O'Bieglo and Manning were seniors for the 8-8 Cougars (6-5 SEC), while Michels was a sophomore.

For O'Bieglo, 2014 represented a second year as MVP. He pitched more innings (41.2) than any other Cougar, with an earned run average of 4.07. O'Bieglo also played first base, and led the team in runs batted in (RBI) with 15, and hit four doubles and a triple.

Manning hit .367, stole 12 bases, and scored 15 runs. He also appeared briefly as a pitcher, working 3.1 innings.

Michels hit .375 and totaled 14 RBI.

All-Conference nominees included O'Bieglo (for a second year), Manning (who won honorable mention three times), and Keyser Wenthold, while Wesley Richert earned honorable mention. Academic All-Conference winners include Jon Selness (for a second year) and Wenthold.

Lyle-Pacelli placed Jordan Hart, Dan Bollingberg, Kevin Juenger and Braden Kocer on the all-conference list. Houston had two nominees (Christian Sires and Dylan Lee). Schaeffer Academy' Joe Vaughn also made the team.

For the Cougars, Wenthold, Richert and Selness all represent next year's leaders. They comprise this season's junior class.

Wenthold hit .385, scored a team-high 20 runs and lifted a team-leading 19 bases. Richert pitched 34.2 innings with an ERA of 3.27. Selness hit .280, including a double and triple.
