Fillmore Central High School has released the names of students earning a place on the fourth quarter and second semester honor rolls.
  • Northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota high school students and their parents will have an opportunity to talk with representatives of more than 65 higher education institutions on Monday, Sept. 15, at Luther College.

  • I have learned many skills in D.A.R.E. that will help me make healthy choices. Drugs will affect you throughout your whole life. Smoking causes breathing problems. If you do sports instead of drugs, you will have a healthier lifestyle. Also, I have learned to get out of risky situations by walking away or saying no. Hang around with nonusers of drugs to be safe. Chewing tobacco is the number one cause of lung cancer. Peer pressure is a bad thing, but if you ever have someone do peer pressure to you, you just want to walk away or say no. Never give in. 
  • The Fillmore Central School District has announced it will be participating in the Summer Food Service Program this year. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and meet nutritional standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

    In February and March, Fillmore Central Community Education, Fillmore Central Schools, Lanesboro Schools and area businesses partnered up to encourage a reading program for kids in the area.

    As the school year winds down, spring sports, prom and other events dominate a majority of many students' days. For Fillmore Central's drama director, Jackie Whitacre, and her group of thespians, this next week holds a special significance. 
  • Cynthia Hokenson of Preston, international exchange coordinator for EF (Education First) High School Exchange, the leader in high school exchange, is currently accepting applications for host families for the 2014-2015 school year. 
  • The Fillmore Central Spring Band Concert will be held in the high school varsity gym in Harmony on Monday, April 28, at 8 p.m. Please note this is a change of venue from what is stated on the school calendar.

in Wisconsin Dells music festival
    The Fillmore Central Junior High Concert Band will be participating in the seventh annual band festival at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. 
  • February was a very busy month at Fillmore Central Elementary with it being "I Love To Read Month." The kids were buzzing with energy for reading and fun! 
  • The Fillmore Central FFA Chapter recently presented checks to two different Minnesota-based organizations. The money for these donations was raised through the chapter's annual community-wide corn drive. 
  • PALS donate balls for elementary
    The Mabel-Canton PALS, (the parent-teacher organization Parent Alliance for Life-long Student Success) have donated new volleyballs, soccer balls and kick balls for the Mabel-Canton elementary students to enjoy! 
  • The Fillmore Central Elementary School in Preston will have its annual kindergarten round-up informational meeting for parents and visitation for students on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary gym. Please use the elementary entrance. 
  • The students at Mabel-Canton are inviting members of the community to join them in a celebration of arts and culture on Monday, March 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the elementary gym. 
  • Mabel-Canton nominates Triple A, ExCEL award students
    Each year, Minnesota high schools are able to nominate two seniors for the Triple A Award and two juniors for the ExCEL Award. This school year, district staff chose to nominate Noah Manning and Sara Lind for the Tripple A Award and Jon Selness and Danielle Graves for the ExCEL Award.
