Fillmore Central FFA members Kayla Biel, Theresa Doerr, Elayna Kiehne, Brady Ristau and Ryli Tostenson competed against 11 other teams from the Southeast Region of Minnesota FFA at the Best Informed Greenhand Contest on Tuesday, March 26, at Rochester Community and Technical College.

The team placed fifth overall and came away from the contest with a much larger bank of FFA knowledge.

The Best Informed Greenhand Contest, commonly referred to as the BIG Contest, is specifically designed for first year or younger FFA members, generally in grades seven through nine. Greenhand typically refers to a first-year FFA member.

The BIG Contest tests members on general knowledge about FFA and agriculture education that they have learned from their first agriculture classes as well as from studying the official FFA manual and handbook. Participating in this contest gives these young members a sneak peek into future FFA opportunities.
