The Fillmore Central FFA Chapter recently presented checks to two different Minnesota-based organizations. The money for these donations was raised through the chapter's annual community-wide corn drive.

Older FFA members traveled around this past fall collecting donations of corn and cash from the generous farmers in the community.

A total of $3,000 was donated to the Camps of Courage and Friendship. This organization operates five locations around Minnesota that serve thousands of youth and adults with various physical and mental disabilities each year. FFA chapter leaders were able to speak with a camp representative to learn how the money is used to provide scholarships for individuals to attend camp at one of the five locations this summer.

Another $1,000 was also donated to the Fillmore County Food Shelf. Chapter leaders met with a representative, learning how many people rely on support from the food pantry. This donation was also matched by the Mason's organization and by Minnesota Food Share - making the FFA's $1,000 donation grow into approximately $2,500 that will be used in Fillmore County.

The Fillmore Central FFA Chapter feels very fortunate to have this partnership with community members, forming a team to help those in need.
