Members of the Fillmore Central Junior High Concert Band will be performing at a band festival in the Wisconsin Dells next Thursday.
The Fillmore Central Junior High Concert Band will be participating in the seventh annual band festival at the Kalahari in Wisconsin Dells on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m.

The band festival was created in 2008 with the goal of offering middle school bands with a quality festival band experience in a supportive environment. Participation in this event is on an invitation basis.

Each participating band performs a number of selections for a panel of master adjudicators. Following the performance, each band receives not only written and audio comments, but also a 30-minute clinic by one of the adjudicators. The emphasis of the clinic is to take this "teachable moment" to demonstrate concepts to enhance and to validate great accomplishments. Each band also has the opportunity to listen to at least two other bands during the day.

The festival has grown from eight participating bands in 2008 to 41 bands in 2014.

Performances will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, and begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4. Performances are free and open to the public.
