Niko Anderson, FCLMC 170 pounder, is headed to the state wrestling tournament, after taking first at the Section 1A meet this past weekend. On his way to the gold medal, Anderson had wins over Cord Anding (D-E, fall, 3:28), Paul Novak (W-K-Alma, 7-1), Dillon Downes (Z-M, 3-1) and Cody Bly (Chatfield, 3-1, 3 overtimes).

Class 1A individuals will start their wrestling at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1. Anderson's first round opponent is scheduled to be John Westman (senior, 32-6, Badger-Greenbush-Middle River).

Three other FCLMC wrestlers medaled at the Section 1A meet, namely Connor Hanson (132), Tom Henry (160) and Monty Holm (182). Hanson took third, going 4-1 in the tournament. Hanson lost to second place finisher Cody Ball (St. Charles) in the semi-final match. Hanson's wins were against Chris Johnson (Hayfield, 2:18), Logan Breuer (Goodhue, 8-5), Devin Manzy (Z-M, 3-0) and Luke Rechtzigel (K-W, 6-5).

Tom Henry also brought home a third place finish, pinning Michael Noll (Lake City, 1:11) for the bronze medal. Henry went 3-1 in the tournament. He lost to Jacob Blattner (Goodhue, 3-2) in his quest to make the finals. Henry also beat Austin Dahl (Chatfield, 5-0) and Joe Hedquist (W-K-Alma, 5:02).

Monty Holm was 3-2 in the tournament, losing the third place match to Daniel Chavez (St. Charles), 5-3, in overtime. Holms other loss came to Porter Secrist (W-K-Alma), 5-1, in the semi-finals. Holm got his wins against Collin Hershey (D-E, 1:18), Andy Siems (Z-M, 6-1) and Bailey Paquin (Kenyon-Wanamingo).

Also wrestling for the Wolves, but not making it to the second day were Alex Fishbaugher (126, 0-2), Andy Love (138, injury, did not wrestle), Gabe Decker (145, 0-2), Josh Jones (152, 1-2, beat Jimmy Warren, W-K-Alma, 2-0), Jarrett Brown (220, 2-2, wins over Seth Donkers, K-W, 2:47 and Evan Block, Z-M, 1:40) and Dalton Mart (285, 1-2, got his win over Trey Chatman, Hayfield, 0:59).
