"(It was) another nice conference road win for us," LHS coach John Smith reported following the single game his boys' basketball team played last week. The Burros defeated the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines on Friday, Feb. 1, 81-60.

Smith noted that the ride to G-E is one of the longer bus trips that Lanesboro takes, but the team came out energized nonetheless.

Luke Rogers performed well on both ends of the floor, finishing with another double-double (26 points, 10 rebounds). The junior guard sparked 7 assists with only 2 turnovers, and took 2 charges on defense.

Kole Ruud had a great night from the free-throw line, hitting 10 of 10. He added five field goals to that total, scoring 20 points and grabbing 5 defensive boards. Ruud also had 4 steals to his credit, and passed for 5 assists with only one turnover.

Isaac Freese also double-doubled. He led the Burros on the glass, tallying 19 rebounds, and scoring 12 points.

Daulton Gartner came off the bench for 10 points and 7 rebounds. Erik Peterson hit a pair of treys on the way to an 8 point, 4 rebound effort. Matthew Luck had 3 points, while Garrett Boggs had 2.

The Wolverines hit a respectable 37 percent from beyond the three point line (7 of 19), actually managing a higher percentage of triples than the long-shot specializing Burros (29 percent, 8 of 28). Two-point field goal totals were more telling, with Lanesboro connecting on 55 percent (22 of 40) while G-E only managed 35 percent (16 of 46). Credit Burro defenders, who blocked 4 shots (one each from Freese, Gartner, Peterson, and forward Eric Holst), took 3 charges, and forced the Wolverines into more turnovers (16-11). LHS also used Ruud's shooting to manage 54 percent at the line (13 of 24), while G-E only hit 7 of 18 free throws.

For G-E, Derek Olson led with 30 points. Nick Anderson grabbed 10 rebounds. Andrew Everson passed for 5 assists.
