With many competitors away on a senior trip, the Burro boys and girls track and field teams made a good showing at their first outdoor meet of the year. Rushford-Peterson hosted the event on March 29, which also included Wabasha-Kellogg.

The boys' team finished first, taking the top spots in seven events and scoring at least some points in all 18.

Leading scorer Eric Peterson won both the 800M and 1600M and placed second in high jump.

Niko Anderson won the 200M dash. Andy Coyle, Daulton Gartner, Marcus Tucker, and Gabe Decker won the 4x100 relay. Quentin Case, Monty Holm, Zach Case, and Chris Collett won the 4x800M. Gabe Decker won the pole vault by 2 feet.

Tucker was the only boy to earn points in four different events (first in 4x100, second in 4x200, second in long jump, and third in triple jump). Four events are the maximum one competitor may enter.

Other high-scoring events for the Burros included a sweep behind Peterson in the 800M (Collett second, Damon Zutz third, and Nathaniel Harrison fourth). Brandon Breitsprecher took second in the 400M dash. Harrison took second in the 1600, followed by Matt Kiehne. Zach Voeltz won the 3200M, with Travis Troendle finishing second. Breitsprecher took third in the 110M hurdles. Quentin Case took third in the 300M hurdles. Anderson, Decker, Coyle and Tucker snagged second in the 4x200M relay. Monty Holm, Kiehne, Zutz, and Greyson Stocker took second in the 4X400M relay. Stocker took third in high jump. Mac Stone placed second in discus and third in shot put.

In girls' competition, L/FC/M-C finished in third place, only 6 points behind R-P/Houston.

Twelve different girls scored team points. The Burros' best event was the high jump, where the team took three of the top four spots.

Kirstin Ruen took first in the 800M, while Tasha Tarrence finished third. Ruen also won the 1600M.

Heather Boyum won the 3200M run.

Alisa Warnes won the high jump and also ran on the victorious 4x200M relay with Madison Ming, Belle Sand, and Sydney Johnson. Ming scored team points in four different events (4x200M relay, second on 4x400M, fourth in high jump, fourth in long jump).
