The Lanesboro/Fillmore Central cross-country squads traveled to the Root River Country Club to compete at the Kingsland Invitational on Sept. 24.

In the boys' races, freshman Zach Emery of La Crescent won the varsity 5K, crossing the line in 16:58. Plainview-Elgin-Millville won team honors with third, fifth and eighth through 10th-place finishers.

L/FC took fourth place as a varsity team. Travis Troendle led the Burros, snagging 14th place. Teammate Zach Voeltz took 19th. Other team scores were earned by Michael Harrison (28th), Nate Eversole (37th) and Casey Olson (40th). Ben Gjere and Matthew Kiehne also competed for the Burros.

Freshmen Layton Howerton and William Nolan ran the JV 5K for L/FC finishing 15th and 20th, respectively.

In the ladies' varsity 4K, Kelly Erpelding of Rochester Area Home School won individual honors, breaking the tape in 15:51. Plainview-Elgin-Millville won the team title.

Kiera Olson of L/FC took fifth (16:11). She was joined by Burros Leah Ruen (14th), Jamie Rein (23rd), Emily Snyder (34th) and Heather Boyum (38th) in posting team scores. Cami Jones also competed for L/FC.

L/FC took fifth in the team event. There were nine cross- country programs on hand with only one incomplete posted.

The Burros didn't have any runners in the girls' junior high 2,500M, but did field a complete team for the boys' race. Eighth-grader Aaron Eversole took 11th, followed by Jared Reinhardt (26th), Travis Sexton (27th), Daniel Erickson (37th) and Joey Lange (39th). Jay Bissen also competed for L/FC, which finished fifth as a team.
