Last Thursday the Fillmore Central/Lanesboro softball team beat Mabel-Canton, 3-0, and then on Friday the team downed Lewiston-Altura, 7-1, improving its record to 3-0, 2-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.

The season is young, but the gals are playing some pretty good softball, and will be a factor in the TRC-South division. Chatfield leads the South with a 6-0 record, 7-0 overall. Chatfield was at FCL this past Tuesday for a pair of conference games.

In the win over the Cougars, freshman Taylor Sprenger had three hits, one RBI and scored a run to aid the offense. Junior Taylor Case and junior Kaitlynn Aug each had two hits in the win. They each had an RBI and Taylor scored a run. Sophomore Morgan Malley rounded out the offense with a hit and a run.

Malley was on the mound for the Lady Falcons, going the full seven innings, allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out 14.

Extra base hits were recorded by Malley and Case, both getting doubles. Freshman Shelby Ebner had a sacrifice bunt in the game.

"We played a much improved Mabel-Canton team," said coach Tris Tollefson. "Defensively we played solid and committed no errors."

In the win over the Cardinals, senior Chelsea Rislove (three hits, two runs, RBI) and Taylor Case (two hits, run, RBI) led the offense for the Falcons. Also coming up with hits were Taylor Sprenger, senior Jordan O'Connor and Kaitlynn Aug. O'Connor also had three rbi and scored a run. Aug also scored a run and had one rbi. Morgan Malley and Sprenger also scored runs.

Malley was on the hill again for the Falcons. She gave up four hits, one earned run, three walks and struck out 11.

"It was nice to have a couple of big innings, offensively," said Tollefson. "After the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead, we came back to score three in the bottom of the first inning." Tollefson made special note of the hitting of Jordan O'Connor (2-run triple), Chelsea Rislove (three-for-four) and Taylor Case (2 hits), the fine pitching of Morgan Malley (scattering four hits) and the defense of freshman catcher Shelby Ebner (fourth runner thrown out this season).
