This past week the Fillmore Central volleyball team went 3-0, improving their overall record to 28-2, and clinching at least a tie for the Three Rivers Conference championship at 10-0.

The gals played Caledonia Tuesday night, and could have won the conference outright at 11-0, with a win over the Warriors. The last time Fillmore Central had a taste at the top was 2007, when they finished in a three-way tie at 8-2 with Caledonia and Chatfield.

Last week the gals got TRC wins over Plainview-Elgin-Millville (3-0; 25-12, 25-18, 25-13) and Dover-Eyota (3-0; 25-13, 25-15, 25-22) and this past Monday night they defeated Lanesboro, 3-0 (25-8, 25-7, 25-9).

Lanesboro highlights ('numbers' are unofficial)...The Falcons have increased their varsity roster, bringing up four additional players from the B squad and ninth grade team; Kelsey Berg, Megan Hendrickson, Kendyl Bennett and Gabrielle Shupe. Shelby Ebner and Paige Bennett, who also play in the B squad matches, have been "up with the varsity" for most of the regular season. Seven different girls had "kills" against the Burros: Kaitlyn Aug (2), Taylor Case (10), Leah Scheevel (14), Kelsey Berg (4), Morgan Malley (2), Sammi Bakke (5), and Paige Bennett (1). Serving: Tayah Barnes, 18/18, 3 aces; Sara Schultz, 13/14, 2 aces; Berg, 5/6, 2 aces; Case 8/8, 1 ace; Bakke, 16/16, 2 aces; and Malley, 10/11,2 aces. I don't have digs, SR or set assists.

The sub-section seeding is coming up this week, with the tournament (play-in matches) starting on Monday, Oct. 21. Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24.
