Monday night the boys baseball team lost a close game to Rushford-Peterson, 7-6, and still have to face St. Charles, Dover-Eyota and Wabasha-Kellogg the rest of this week. And then they have four games the next week to finish off the regular season. Hard to imagine that the playoffs are already peekin' around the corner!

Nick Ebner pitched against the Trojans and did a very nice job on the mound. Ebner gave up 11 hits and seven runs, but only two of the runs were earned. He struck out two and walked only one RP batter. The second inning proved to be very costly to Ebner and the Falcons, as they gave up four runs, all of which were unearned.

Offensively, Cal Larson and Dan Gatzke led the team. Larson had two hits and a pair of RBI, while Gatzke got one hit (ground rule double), stole three bases and scored three runs. FCL finished the game with six runs, eight hits, left seven on base, but committed four errors.

Also getting hits for the Falcons were Niko Anderson (double, walk, run), Andy Love, Nick Ebner (run, RBI), Clay Olson (RBI) and Nick Powell. Garrett Boggs had a sacrifice bunt and Jake Tammel reached base with a walk.

Last week, before the brief return of winter, the Falcons traveled to Adams and lost a pair of games to the Southland Rebels, 5-4 and 4-1.

In the opening game, the one counting for the TRC standings, FCL could only must three hits, one each by Niko Anderson, Nick Powell and Nick Ebner. Runs were scored by Andy Love, Powell, Cody Hendrickson and Josh Jones. Runs batted in were recorded for Powell and Ebner (2).

Ebner took the loss for the pitching staff, recording one strikeout and walking five.

In the non-conference game of the double-header, Fillmore Central/Lanesboro had one run, on four hits. Anderson, Love, Gatzke and Hendrickson were credited with the hits, Anderson scored the only run, and Gatzke had the run-batted-in.

Josh Jones did the pitching for the Falcons. He gave up four runs, two earned, struck out one and walked four. The game was called during the sixth inning, due to lightning, and since the 'home team' did not get to finish the sixth inning, the game reverted back to a five-inning game.
