The Fillmore Central volleyball team took one step closer to the Three Rivers Conference volleyball championship, downing the Chatfield Gophers, (3-0: 25-20, 25-19, 25-22) last week. The ladies are now 8-0 in TRC play, alone at the top of the Three Rivers Conference.

With just three conference matches left (PEM, DE, Caledonia), the Falcons will determine their own destiny regarding the championship. Chatfield is in second with a 7-1 record, while Wabasha-Kellogg is third at 6-2.

The gals also got a non-conference win over Kingsland (3-0: 25-4,25-10, 25-8) last week and won the Byron Tournament. In the Byron Tournament, Fillmore Central got pool play wins over Pine Island (25-12, 25-15), South St. Paul (25-9, 25-13), and Bloomington Kennedy (25-9, 25-14) and tournament wins over Triton (25-12, 25-20) and Goodhue (25-10, 25-16).

This week the girls traveled to Plainview-Elgin-Millville on Tuesday and host Dover-Eyota Thursday night. The match with D-E is the last regular season home match. FC closes out the regular season, at Caledonia, on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
