The Fillmore Central boys won the Three Rivers Conference dual meet championship while the girls tied for the championship in the conference tournament, as the teams begin tournament play this week.

Girls tie for title

The Fillmore Central girls golf team tied Wabasha-Kellogg for first place in the Three Rivers Conference Championship, held last Thursday at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester. Both teams finished with scores of 386. Caledonia/Spring Grove was third at 412. Following the Warriors were Lewiston-Altura (429), Chatfield (458), Plainview-Elgin-Millville (494), St. Charles (504) and Rushford-Peterson (532). Southland and Dover-Eyota were Incomplete, neither able to field a team of four golfers.

Individually, Keeley Todd had the top score for the Lady Falcons, shooting a 94 over the 18 holes. She finished in sixth place. Grace Miller finished seventh (96), Madison Scheevel (97) was eighth and Katie Tammel (99) was 10th. The other two varsity golfers for FC were Laura Dooney (104, tied for 13th) and Elayna Kiehne (129, 34th). Forty-seven golfers participated in the tournament, from the 10 schools.

In a dual meet last Tuesday, Fillmore Central downed Kingsland, 217-284. Tammel was medalist in the match, firing a 51 for nine holes. Also playing on the varsity were Todd (52), Scheevel (57), Kiehne (57), Cailey Rindels (64) and Skyelar Veiseth (66). JV scores against Kingsland: Penny Hollingsworth (88), Haley Ostrom (74), Madison Bakken (84), Rianna Ryan (67), Taylor Wilford (77), Libby Onsager (77) and Tenisha Schweitzer (76).

This past Tuesday the gals took part in the sub-section tournament. Qualifiers advance to the section tournament next week.

Boys win all dual meets

The Fillmore Central boys finished the Three Rivers Conference-South dual meet season with a perfect 10-0 record. Last week they capped off that perfect campaign with an overwhelming, 170-246, win against Kingsland. Jordan Miller shot a 38 on the par 36 course in Spring Valley to take medalist honors. Right behind him was Trevor Barnes with a round of 39. Other varsity golfers for FC: Alex Lange (45), Connor Morem (48), Matson Kiehne (51) and Delton Sauer (52). B squad scores included, Andrew Reicks (48), Will Nolan (54), Brennan Tienter (55), Kurtis Hershberger (66) and Devin Whitacre (66).

In the Three Rivers Conference tournament last week, the guys finished a "disappointing" fourth (363), behind Rushford-Peterson (340), Lewiston-Altura (347) and Plainview-Elgin-Millville (356). Also competing in the tournament were Caledonia/Spring Grove (366), St. Charles (405), Southland (419), Dover-Eyota (442) and Chatfield (461). Kingsland was Incomplete and Cotter did not enter a team.

Individually, Jordan Miller shot an 86, and finished eighth in the tournament. Trevor Barnes was 11th, with a score of 88. Alex Lange had a 92 and was tied for 15th. Other FC golfers, included, Matson Kiehne (97, t28th), Connor Morem (97, t 28th) and Delton Sauer (99, 32nd). Sixty-one golfers participated in the Tournament.

This week the guys are playing in the sub-section tournament, at Willow Creek, and hope to advance to the section tournament, scheduled for next week.
