Burros golfers closed out their team seasons at the Subsection 1A Tournament on May 20, but some will continue on to the section championships as individuals.

Lanesboro finished fourth in both boys and girls totals. There were seven teams in attendance at Willow Creek Golf Course, where Lewiston/Altura won the boys title, followed by Rushford-Peterson. For the ladies, Fillmore Central finished first, followed by Wabasha-Kellogg. All four of those clubs will move on to section play.

Fillmore Central's Jordan Miller and Katie Tammel were the meet medalists, with rounds of 76 and 84, respectively.

For the Lanesboro ladies, Hope Knepper fired 108, followed by Alexis Jorgensen (114), Mckenzie Hanson (121) and Madeline Snyder (122). Heather Boyum and Amy Kelly also played for the Burros.

Liam Dorn and Johnathan Bierman both shot 83 for the boys, followed by Tristan Chiglo (91), and Adam Sutter (97). Greyson Stocker also played for LHS.

Dorn, Bierman, and Chiglo all made the cut to continue on to section. For the girls, both Knepper and Jorgensen move on.

Lanesboro finished first in the SEC in both boys (6-0 conference, 9-8 overall) and girls golf (5-1 conference, 13-24 overall). It was the ninth straight regular season title for the girls, and the Burro boys have now won or shared the SEC title eight of the last 10 seasons.

The section tournament was scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at Eastwood Golf Course in Rochester. The 1A state championships take place at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, June 10 and 11.
