Lightning, thunder, and rain cut short the Rushford-Peterson Invitational track meet on April 30, but not before competitors ran, jumped and threw in several events.

The hosts from R-P were joined by athletes from Lanesboro/Fillmore Central/ Mabel-Canton, Winona Cotter, Kenyon Wanamingo, La Crescent and Lewiston-Altura. The meet was un-scored.

Some field events, as well the 200M dash, 3200M and 4x400 relays did not finish.

For L/FC/M-C, thrower Olivia Haug had an outstanding day, winning both the shot put and discus by wide margins. There were 20 competitors in shot put, where Haug won by approximately a foot and a half with a lob of 30-11.00. Haug's discus fling (104-01) out-distanced the next best throw by nearly 17 feet. There were 19 competitors in that event.

L/FC/M-C throwing coach Jared Pierce said, "Olivia is a natural thrower, just about every aspect of her throws are smooth and just require minor corrections. As far as her throws on Tuesday (April 30), those were not her best throws... Her personal records are 33' at shot put and 108' in discus. She has a great chance to be a state competitor this year, and compared to last year she is even more focused this season..."

In boys' competition, Quentin Case of L/FC/M-C won the 300M hurdles with a time of 43.77.

Other solid performances included a second-place finish in the 400M dash by Kenzie Broadwater. She also took fourth in the 100M.

Kiera Olson took second in the 800M run and fourth in the 1600M.

The 4x800 relay finished in third place. Members included Kenndyl Bennett, Leah Ruen, Maggie Decker and Sara Vettleson-Trutza.

The 4x200 relay team of Belle Sand, Alisa Warnes, Leah Scheevel and Vettleson-Trutza took fourth place.

Warnes also took third in high jump.

The 4x200 team of Andrew Coyle, Damon Zutz, Zachary Case and Erik Peterson took third, as did the 4x800 squad of Zachary Case, Brandon Breitsprecher, Nathaniel Harrison and Peterson.

In the 1600M run, Chris Collett took third, followed by Zach Voeltz in fourth.

McKinnen Stone took third in discus.
