Laneboro senior Johanna Bearson will be making a fourth appearance at this year's Minnesota 1A State Golf Tournament.

She and sophomore Liam Dorn competed at the Section 1A championships at Eastwood Golf Club in Rochester on May 28. Bearson tied for second place after firing an 82, while Dorn carded an 84, missing the cut by only five strokes.

"Johanna played a really good round," LHS coach John Smith noted. "She was the leader after the front nine after shooting a 40... She had a little trouble on the 13-15 holes but then finished her round out strong going +1 over par the final three holes. She birdied the 7th and 12th holes which gave her momentum heading into the back nine."

"I was very happy how Jo managed the course all day especially with the wet conditions and tough course. We are looking forward to a good state tournament and finishing her senior year and career out strong."

"Liam had a very good day on the course. His score of 84 was very solid for the day and I was proud of him as a sophomore finishing 13th. Hopefully his work this summer will pay off for him heading into next year and possibly taking the next step and going to the state tournament. Liam had a great year and finished with a good section tournament."

Bearson travels to Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn., for the June 11-12 state meet.

Others qualifying at Eastwood included women's medalist Elizabeth Hennessy (81) of Lewiston-Altura, Kaitlyn Kling of Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander (82), Anna Nobel of Blooming Prairie (92), and Samantha Dahlen of Hayfield (95).

In men's competition, Brady Becker of Hayfield and Fletcher Blaschko of Wabasha-Kellogg shared meet medalist honors at 76. W-K also advanced as a team. Brady Borkowski of Lewiston-Altura (79), Hudson Stensgard of Rushford-Peterson (79), Trevor Anderson of Hayfield (79), and Houston's Sam Ross (79) will also be heading to state.
