Lanesboro girls play state ranked L/P

With numerous postponements due to weather, some teams didn't play at all last week. Lanesboro's girls did hit the court on Jan. 17 for a make-up game with Lyle/Pacelli.
"L/P is easily one of the best teams we will see all year," LHS coach Kelly McMillen said after a tough 95-24 loss at Lyle.
The Athletics arrived with a perfect 8-0 record and a No. 5 state ranking in Class A. Prior to the Lanesboro contest, L/P had already held four opponents to less than 20 points with smothering defensive pressure.
The A's continued along those lines, forcing 29 turnovers prior to halftime. That crippled the Burro offense, and the Athletics went into the locker room up 61-10.
Olivia Haug scored eight points for the Burros, hitting three for five from the field. She also grabbed 10 rebounds. Kelsey O'Koren had five points and two rebounds. Chelsea Hanson scored four points, while Claire Peterson scored three with a single shot. Heather Boyum and Olivia Rogers had two points each. Rogers also had two steals. Cassidy Ruud stole the ball once.
Senior guard Ann Rysavy led the Athletics with 21 points, seven assists, and five steals. Junior center Madison Truckenmiller poured in 18, while sophomore guard Courtney Walter contributed 16 points, six assists, and four steals.
A home stand awaits this week. The Burros were scheduled to host Houston on Monday, Jan. 20. Three days later Glenville-Emmons visits Lanesboro. On Friday, Grand Meadow will also come to town. The home stand continues next Monday with a game against Hope Lutheran. The next night, they travel to Spring Grove and Thursday, Jan. 30, they host Schaeffer Academy.
