The Burros only played one volleyball match last week, but it was a four-set, 195-point endurance test. The Hope Lutheran Patriots visited on Sept. 27, defeating Lanesboro 28-30, 25-22, 27-25, 25-13. Neither coach provided stats to local media.

Lanesboro coach Bobbie Vickerman did report some observations for the Republican-Leader.

"The first set seemed like it would never end," Vickerman noted, "but the Burros pulled together to take the game at 30 points... Sets two and three were both very close throughout, but the Patriots took them both. We hoped to take the match to a fifth set, but we lost (our momentum) in the fourth.

"There was good passing and serving at times, but the Burros had trouble executing their attacks."

Lanesboro was led by excellent serving by sophomore setter Stephanie Erickson, Vickerman said.

Up next:

The Burros were to visit Houston on Oct. 2, followed by a road trip to Grand Meadow two nights later. On Oct. 9, Lanesboro will host M-C. Oct. 11 is an away date with Spring Grove.
