The Burros played two of their three scheduled matches last week, as the contest against Fillmore Central on Monday, Sept. 9, was cancelled and rescheduled for Sept. 30.

On the following night, LHS traveled to Lyle-Pacelli. The first set was close, going to the Athletics 25-20. The second frame also went to the home team 25-16, but the Burros staged a comeback in the third, winning 25-19. The fourth set was won by L-P 25-15.

For LHS, Steph Erickson had 3 aces, 15 set assists, and 2 kills. Alexis Jorgensen had 5 kills and 2 ace serves. Olivia Haug had 6 kills, and a set assist. Kelsey O'Koren had 3 kills, while Kaia Hongerholt put away 2 kills. Regan Howerton had an ace serve. Lexi Melander had 2 set assists.

The Burros took on the state-ranked (No. 5) Mabel-Canton Cougars in Lanesboro on Thursday, September 12. Set scores favored the visitors, 25-10, 25-11, 25-16.

Hongerholt led LHS with 7 kills, while Haug contributed 4 ace blocks. Jorgensen had 2 ace blocks. Erickson contributed 7 digs.

"Coranda Vickerman (an M-C freshman) had a great night serving," M-C coach Lonnie Morken reported. "It seemed like whenever she went back to serve we ripped off a run of points. Lanesboro did a pretty good job of limiting their errors and made us earn our points, which was great to see. They have some really good younger kids coming up so their future is sure bright!"

"We are improving every match," LHS coach Christine Knutson added. " We are looking forward to the rest of the season."

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Lanesboro was scheduled to compete at the Wabasha-Kellogg tourney, but were dropped from that event. The Burros are now set to compete at the LeRoy Tournament on Sept. 28 instead.

LHS hosts Spring Grove on Tuesday, Sept. 17. One week later the Burros will travel to Hope Lutheran in Winona.
