Darrell James Weisenbeck, 85, of Durand, Wis., died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Wabasha.

He was born April 23, 1928, in the town of Maxville to Matson and Lucy (Weber) Weisenbeck, the eldest of eight children.

He lived all of his life in the Durand area and married Thelma Gasteyer on Aug. 30, 1949, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Durand, where he was a lifelong member. They farmed in the Durand area all of their lives.

He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. His passions in life were faith, family and his farm.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma of 63 years; children, Brenda of Eau Claire, Wis., Barbara (Mike) Biesterveld of Durand, Bonnie (Mike) Brunner of Hudson, Wis., Dan (Jane) of Durand, Donna (Mark) Scheevel of Harmony and Denise (Ted) Janzow of Rochester; 13 grandchildren, including Derek Scheevel and Leah Scheevel of Harmony; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Rita (Earl) Hetrick of Nelson, Wis., Sr. Joan Weisenbeck of La Crosse, Sr. Marlene Weisenbeck of La Crosse and LuAnn (Bruce) Kaatz of Eau Claire; three brothers, Father Jude Weisenbeck of Milwaukee, Larry (Mary Lou) of New Richmond, Wis., and Arnold (Edie) of Durand; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Daniel Mark Scheevel.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 3, at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Durand. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
