Iris Mae Morem, 88, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope, Minn.

Iris Broadwater was born July 19, 1924, at Bristol Center, near Harmony, to Lewis and Lydia (Selders) Broadwater. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1943.

She married Richard Morem on June 30, 1946; they were married nearly 64 years. She resided in Harmony almost all of her life. She and her husband were partners with Dean and Evelyn Morem, operating Morem Electric in Harmony.

Mrs. Morem was a beautiful seamstress, talented flower gardener, master fisherman, avid golfer, keen cribbage player and bingo extraordinaire.

She was a lifelong member of Greenfield Lutheran Church and the Rachel Circle, Harmony Golf Club and Photozatean Club.

She is survived by her only child, Sandy (Jimmy) Strozyk of Blaine, Minn.; grandchildren, James Hultgren of Blaine, Greg Hultgren, Jr., of Orlando, Fla., Todd Hultgren of Caledonia, Katelin Ihns of Minneapolis, Travis Strozyk of Ham Lake and Amanda Strozyk of Andover; a great-granddaughter, Haley Kay Hultgren of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Marie Thomas of Harlingen, Texas; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean Morem of Harmony and Tom and Gwen Morem of Austin; nieces and nephews, Larry and Rita Kiefer of Janesville, Iowa, Jane Remley of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Bruce and Carol Morem of Lake Geneva, Wis., Stuart and Marian Morem of Harmony, David Morem of Roseville and Ann Boyd of Evanston, Ill., and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on June 16, 2010; her parents; a sister, Olive Lane; a brother, Hugh; a twin brother, Ivan, and best friend and sister in-law, Evelyn Morem.

A memorial service will be held at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kyle Jackson officiating. A visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. Interment of her ashes and her husband's ashes will follow at Greenfield Cemetery.
