Kenneth O'Kada, 75, father of Harmony man

Kenneth D. O'Kada, 75, died on Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Iowa City VA Health Care System in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born Nov. 5, 1937, in Cresco, Iowa, to Henry and Violet (Betts) O'Kada. He was a Cresco High School State wrestling champion. He attended Iowa State University for a few years, and then joined the United States Navy.
On Nov. 1, 1969, he married Susanne Glenna. Together they farmed in the Lime Springs and Cresco areas. He was a Disabled American Veteran and American Legion Post #135 member.
He is survived by his wife, Susanne of Lime Springs; a son, Daniel (Hyunji) of Harmony, who is expecting twins in November; a daughter, Kimberly of West Union, Iowa, and her children, Brittany, Aaron, Tyler, Torin, Martin, and Emma; his siblings, Carl, Glen, Ida (Pete) Krueger and June O'Kada.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in September 2013 after his grandson, Aaron, completes Marine basic training.
Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco is in charge of arrangements.
