Palma D. Holland, 98, of Spring Grove died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Tweeten Lutheran Healthcare Center in Spring Grove.

She was born Oct. 22, 1913, in Caledonia Twp., Houston County, to Ole and Othilja (Moen) Myhre. She was a lifelong area resident, attending rural school.

On Feb. 18, 1932, she married James O. Holland.

Palma farmed with her husband, she also cleaned houses in the area and worked at Mansfield Industries in Spring Grove.

James and Palma were the caretakers of the Spring Grove Manor, as well as its first residents.

She was a member of Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel and Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.

Palma enjoyed playing cards and crocheting afghans. She made baby shawls for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also made wonderful donuts, lefse, flatbrod and bread.

Survivors include her children, Jerald (Kate) of Austin, Darleen Hanson of Hastings, Beverly Kallis and Roger (Marcia) of Spring Grove, Richard (Loretta) of Minnesota City, Patty (Robert) Tollefsrud of Rochester, Gary (Harriet) of Black Hammer (rural Spring Grove), David (Ann) of New Brighton and Dean (Terry) of Spring Grove; 28 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Clarice Faa of Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; three grandchildren, Donald Hanson, Kelly Swee and Debra Schuster; two sons-in-law, Rodney Kallis and LeRoy Hanson; and four brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services were March 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. The Rev. Mary Waudby of Scheie Lutheran Church and the Rev. Zane Anderson of Trinity Lutheran officiated. Burial was in Scheie Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mabel.
