Ray Guhl, 78, of Rochester, died at his home from a lengthy illness on Friday, April 4, 2014.

He was born Sept. 27, 1935, in Plainview, to Raymond L. and Ruth A. (Hemshrot) Guhl.

He graduated from Rochester High School in 1953.

He married Judith Armit Erickson on Nov. 11, 1977, in Watertown, S.D.

He was a production engineer supervisor at Crenlo Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from November 1954 to August 1957.

He enjoyed camping, scootering, reading, model railroading, woodworking and playing with his kitties.

He is survived by his wife, Judie; six children, Linda (Earl) Clark of Rochester, Laurie (Rodney) Whitmore of Eyota, Rickey Guhl of Rochester, Scott (Jodie) Guhl of Rochester, Lisa (John) Flood of Preston and Brian (Mary) Guhl of Naples, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Angela Erickson of Northfield and one stepson, Will Erickson of Zumbro Falls; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Saley, Chad Clark, Jefferson Whitmore, Kevin Whitmore, Scott Whitmore, Brad Guhl, Josh Guhl, Jade Guhl, Tanner Guhl, Dylan Sandborn, Austin Guhl and Colton Guhl and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, April 9, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Greg Heidorn officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
