Richard Voeltz, 68, brother of Lanesboro man

Richard "Dick" Donald Voeltz, 68, lost his battle with lung cancer Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his home in Kasson, with his wife and daughters at his side.
He was born Dec. 8, 1943, in Austin, to his parents, Maynard and Frances (Krahn) Voeltz. He grew up in Spring Valley and attended Spring Valley High School, graduating in 1962.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country from 1962 to 1966, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed at Land 'O Lakes in Pine Island, and in April of 2012 he retired after 38 years.
He enjoyed all aspects of the outdoors, from riding his motorcycle to deer hunting, spending time on his pontoon to fireside nights on his patio. He adored his grandchildren and was usually present at athletic events, concerts, school programs and special occasions, and was an avid photographer on the sidelines. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and had a unique and special friendship with his family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela of Kasson; daughters, Kimberly (Voeltz) Pechman of Lakewood, Colo., Elisa Voeltz (Craig Bruske) of Pine Island and Amanda Voeltz of Pine Island; stepsons, Jerry Laufle of Rochester and Robert Laufle (Elisha Costello) of New Salem, Pa.; grandchildren, Adam, Neva, Haylee, Isabelle and Taren; stepgrandchildren, Brittany, Austin, Andrew, Destini, Ben and Spencer; brothers, Robert (Renata) Voeltz of Spring Valley, David (Christine) of Wykoff and Dennis (Debbie) Voeltz of Lanesboro; sisters, Patricia Doering of Wykoff and Sheila Rodgers of Clarks Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Frances (Krahn) Voeltz; a sister, Barbara (Voeltz) Freyberger, and a daughter, Cathy Ann Voeltz.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Baptist Church in Kasson, with the Rev. Dale Phelps officiating. Burial was at Spring Valley Cemetery in Spring Valley.
