An 1899 Independence Day celebration at Historic Forestville, located in Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park, will take place Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. Grand ceremonies commence at 1.

Scheduled events throughout the day include a turn of the century baseball game with the "Rochester Roosters" vs. the "Beaver Township Nine." Live music with a community brass band, children's pie and watermelon eating contests, and foot races, are all part of the traditional 19th century fun.

The Friends of Forestville will be hosting a food tent and period refreshments such as peanuts, stick candy, popcorn, and soda will be available.

All are invited to attend this "Grand Olde Fashioned Celebration" of America's Birthday.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children, and free for those 5 and under.
