After a year of planning, the Wykoff Veterans Memorial Park Committee will be holding a groundbreaking event on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. just prior to the Fall Fest parade.

The event will be held at the future site of the memorial on the corner of Gold Street and East Front Street, across from the Short Stop gas station and will feature guest speakers, including Wykoff Mayor Al Williams and Fillmore County Veterans Service Officer Jason Marquardt.

Committee members will be available throughout the festival to sell pavers and raffle tickets for a quilt donated by Vera Lange.  The money raised will go toward the building of the memorial.

The committee has also created a float in the parade featuring the Wykoff cannon, which has been a valued part of the community since 1920.
