The vibrant greens of summer are slowly turning to the golden hues of fall. It is a beautiful time to be outside enjoying the nature that surrounds us. The Bluff Country Artists Gallery and Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail invites photographers of all ages and skill-levels to capture their view of nature for their "Best of Nature Photography Contest."
Art and nature come together for the “Best of Nature Photography Contest.”
"We are hoping to get people on the trail, or anywhere outdoors to take photos," explained Steve Kemp Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail committee member. "We [Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail committee] feel that getting people outdoors is one of our goals and hopefully this contest will get people out and enjoying nature."
While brainstorming ideas for an event during Uff Da Fest, the Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail committee members talked about a photography contest. They thought that it would be a nice collaboration with the gallery so they approached the gallery board with their idea.
"The gallery is excited to display the photographers work; this event ties these two groups together very nicely. We are glad to be working with the gallery on this contest," added Kemp. "We hope some of the photographers will also be on hand to talk about their work during the reception."
There are six different categories for photo entries - kindergarten through sixth grade, seventh grade through 12th grade, amateur, professional, senior citizen, and Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail. Photos in all categories are to be nature-focused and those entered in the Norwegian Ridge Birding and Nature Trail category must be taken on the trail and not elsewhere.
Photos are to be framed or matted and ready to be hung. They must be a minimum of 5"x7" and are to be nature-focused. Photos can be brought into the gallery during regular business hours from Sept. 11 through Oct. 4. Winners will be determined on Oct. 5 during Uff Da Fest. Everyone is invited to see the winning entries during a special reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 5. All entries will be exhibited at the gallery from Oct. 5 through 30.
