Music in the Park extended through August
Wednesday, July 31, 2013 8:26 AM
Music in the Park was scheduled to end this Wednesday with Bryon Stein as the final act. However, everyone will be able to continue to enjoy summer evenings in the park as the music has been extended through the entire month of August!
The first week in August is the community picnic at 6 p.m. hosted by the area churches of Calvary Free, Faith Lutheran of Blackhammer, For His Glory, Trinity Lutheran, Waterloo Ridge and Wilmington churches. All residents of Spring Grove and the surrounding area are welcome. In case of rain, the potluck will be held in Trinity's Fellowship Hall.
Upcoming musical acts include Simple Rogues on Aug. 21 and Mike McAbee on Aug. 28. Musical plans for Aug. 14 are still being planned. Watch for updates on the Commercial Club's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/CommercialClub, on the Spring Grove Communications marquee, and in the Herald.
Music-In-The-Park takes place in the gazebo in Viking Memorial Park. Each week, the event will try to be held at the park if the weather and the construction noise cooperate. The back-up location is the Fest Building. As always, food begins at 6 p.m., and the music commences at 6:30 p.m. finishing by 8 p.m. There are many benches and picnic tables, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
The Detour Dollars will continue to be drawn each Wednesday at Music in the Park. The winners drawn on July 24 were: $100 first place to Jeff Johnson, Spring Grove; a Spring Grove Cinema movie pass to Joanne Alstad, Spring Grove; and a Spring Grove SWIM Center pass to Rose Florian, Spring Grove.
