Music-in-the-Park kicks off this week

Even with all of the disruptions of the road construction, one thing will remain the same this summer, Spring Grove's Music-in-the-Park series.
What better way is there to spend a Wednesday evening in the summer than enjoying the outdoors while listening to live music, eating great food and visiting with neighbors and friends?
The series kicks off tonight (Wednesday, June 5) with the Buck Hollow Band. Ye Olde Opera House theatre will be serving concessions. The duo of John and Teresa Condon has been performing since 1990. They play country and '50s music for dancing.
On Wednesday, June 12, the Toe Tappers Band will play while food is served by the Newhouse Norsemen 4-H club. Hailing from Waukon, Iowa, the band plays a variety of music, primarily country and old-time music.
Tunnel Vision will entertain on June 19, which includes local resident Tony Siminski on drums. The cover band plays a mix of rock and country - old and new. Siminski's son, Keenan, is a part-time roadie. Concessions will be by Beary Patch Preschool, the non-profit that won the Celebrity Servers contest at Merchants Bank.
June 26 ushers in the duo of Glen Alstad and Arland Folstad, also known as The Starliters. These two gentlemen perform old-time standards. Sunrise Care Facility will be providing the food for the evening.
Get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July a day early on Wednesday, July 3 with the hometown Jim Busta Band! This local band has been playing for more than 30 years.
Mollie B will be their special guest; TV star on the RFD channel where she hosts the "Mollie B Polka Party" as well as performing with the band Squeezebox. The Legion Auxiliary will be serving food this evening.
July 10 brings the Joe Cody Band headed by Joe Cody and including several local family members who will take the stage. They are a mix of music from rock to country, they play it all! Food is by Spring Grove Boy Scouts,
The 12-person vocal group Fusion that features show tunes, vocal jazz and a revue of the '50s and '60s comes to Spring Grove on Wednesday, July 17. Food is by the Spring Grove Athletic Boosters.
The Jim Busta Band with Mollie B will return for an encore performance on Wednesday, July 24. Food is by the Spring Grove Lions Club.
The series ends on July 31 with Brian Stein, a new act for the venue. Food will be by the Spring Grove Commercial Club.
Music-In-The-Park takes place in the gazebo in Viking Memorial Park each Wednesday June 1 through Aug. 1 in Spring Grove. Each week, the event will try to be held at the park if the weather and the construction noise cooperates.
The back-up location is the Fest Building. As always, food begins at 6 p.m., and the music commences at 6:30 p.m. finishing by 8 p.m.
There are many benches and picnic tables, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
In addition, don't forget that each week at 6 p.m., the Spring Grove EDA will be holding its Detour Dollars drawing for three winners!
