Children who will begin their school career this fall attended Kinder Prep Academy at Spring Grove School this past week. This is part of the school readiness programs that helps the students prepare for their kindergarten year. This year’s theme was “Camp Kindergarten.” A tent and “campfire” were set up in the classroom and they talked about all things camping —  campfires, s’mores, stars, bears, shooting stars, fireflies, and hiking. They even went on a hike — through the school learning about the cafeteria, gym, and other places that they’ll be seeing during their school year. “This is a great opportunity for the students to get to know me and their classroom (school begins) while having a lot of fun,” commented kindergarten teacher, Jen Solberg. “This week plus all of our other kindergarten readiness activities make the first week of school much easier for the kids so we can get off to a great start for the school year!” Beyond the school “hike”, the students also spent a lot of time exploring the kindergarten room, listen to stories, singing songs, doing projects, and enjoying time on the playground.
