Two Spring Grove residents arrested for suspected drug related offenses.

On Oct. 26 at about 6:30 a.m., the Spring Grove Police Department initiated an investigation into a complaint of drug manufacturing in the city of Spring Grove. Upon information gathered during the investigation, the Spring Grove Police Department along with officers of the Houston County Sheriff's Department, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of 3rd Street NW in Spring Grove.

During the warrant execution, it was discovered that chemicals used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine were located on the property and that an active meth lab was in use. As proper protocol, the Southeast Minnesota Drug Task Force Hazardous Material Unit were called to decontaminate and remove the evidence from the crime scene. The Spring Grove Fire Department and Spring Grove Ambulance Service were also staged at the scene as precautionary measures for the safety of personnel and property.
Justin J. Olson, 21, of Spring Grove was arrested at the scene without incident. Olson was in custody at the Houston County Jail and charges were pending at the time of this report on Oct. 28.
In a second unrelated incident during the early morning of Oct. 27, Spring Grove Police Officers made a traffic stop in the city of Spring Grove and stopped a vehicle for failure to yield the right of way. During the investigation of the traffic incident, the officers detected the odor of marijuana. When the incident was completed, officers seized an estimated 192 grams of marijuana and 58 grams of illegal mushrooms, and drug related equipment.
Nicholas J. Peterson, 20, of Spring Grove was arrested without incident. Peterson was also in custody at the Houston County Jail and charges were pending at the time of this report on Oct. 28.
