Daniel Robert Conniff, 66, of Brownsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, doing what he loved, snowmobiling in West Yellowstone Park in Montana.

He was born March 26, 1946, in La Crosse, Wis., to Lloyd and Mona (Corcoran) Conniff. Dan graduated from St. Peter's Catholic High School, Hokah in 1964.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and then attended school at Winona Technical College. He married Jamie Evans on Sept. 8, 1973, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman in La Crosse.

Dan worked as a foreman at Trane Company, La Crosse, in the Shipping and Receiving Department.

He was an avid snowmobiler and motorcycle rider, and he was a member of the Caledonia Sno-Gophers, the La Crosse Riders Club and the Gold Wing Group.

He served on the Hokah City Council for many years and was a member of the Hokah American Legion Post 498.

Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, shooting fireworks and going on vacation. He was interested in the latest technology and always willing to help family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie, of Brownsville; three children, Peter Conniff and Richard (Junia) Conniff, both of Bloomington and Jennifer (Paul) Krueger, Brownsville; three grandchildren, Cameron, Carson and Chloe; and brothers and sister, Duane (Joan) Conniff, Hokah, and Dennis (Joann) Conniff, Kay (Vern) Yolton and James Conniff, all of Caledonia, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial March 4 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Gregory Leif officiated and burial with military honors was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah.
