Dean Joel Holland, 64, of Spring Grove, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at his home.
He was born Oct. 16, 1949, in Spring Grove to James and Palma (Myhre) Holland.
He was a 1967 Spring Grove High School graduate.
On Oct. 28, 1972, he married Teresa Christian at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Caledonia.
He was a farmer, starting in high school and worked for various farmers. In his early 20s he worked as a carpenter. Then he bought a farm, and later added his own carpentry business.
He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove.
He was very devoted to and protective of his family.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa (Terry) of Spring Grove; daughters, Kristine Holland of Caledonia and Jennifer (Friedrich) Wedmann of Spring Grove; grandchildren, Lindsey, Casey and Heidi Jo Buxengard, Olivia Wedmann and Hunter and Syndey Holland; one great-grandson, Xavier Salo; brothers, Jerald (Kate) of Austin, Roger (Marcia) of Spring Grove, Richard (Loretta) of Minnesota City, Gary (Harriet) of Spring Grove and David (Ann) of New Brighton; sisters, Darlene Hanson of Hastings, Beverly Kallis of Spring Grove, Patricia (Robert) Tollefsrud of Rochester and “numerous kids who called him Dad.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joseph; two brothers-in-law; two nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with the Rev. Zane Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery.
