Dennis A. "Deadeye" Twite, 54, of Caledonia, died suddenly Friday, May 31, 2013, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born April 13, 1959, in Anoka to Oswald and Melba (Newgard) Twite. Dennis was a 1977 graduate of Caledonia High School. On Dec. 15, 1979, he married Barbara A. Diersen at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Dennis worked at Centurytel from 1977 until 2002 and then at ACE Communications in Houston from 2002 until the time of his death. He was a very compassionate person who had an infectious smile on his face. He was a role model to his nieces and nephews who were so dear to him, as well as so many others he would take under his wing. Dennis loved to talk with people. His sons-in-law called him a "social butterfly." If they went anywhere together, they would always be waiting for Dennis to finish his conversation only for him to find someone else to talk to. Dennis always looked forward to his Wednesday night bowling outings with the Schmitz Refrigeration bowling team where, over the years, he made many special friendships. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, turkey and deer hunting on the "back farm," fishing on Lawrence Lake, tent camping, gardening, watching the races in West Salem, and going on the tours he and Barb would take in their jeep. Dennis especially loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and family. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Barb of Caledonia; two daughters, Jessica (Kevin) Tischhauser and their daughter, Morgan, of Caledonia, and Stephani (Corey) Gantenbein and their two children, Aliyah and Griffin, of Caledonia; his mother, Melba Miller of Hokah; brothers, Dale (Linda) of Lanesboro, Doug (Kay) of Houston and Darryl (Jessie) and Darrin "Beanie" (Lori), both of Caledonia, Dean (Tammy) of Houston, and Dusty (Tammy) of Caledonia; sisters, Val Rouhoff of Austin, Shelley Twite-Scherf (Dave Christianson) of Waterville, Iowa, and Cheryl (Dan) Fisch of Spring Grove; and the nieces and nephews that were so dear to him. He is further survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Alice Diersen, Caledonia; brothers-in-law, John (Karyl) Diersen and Jim Diersen, both of Caledonia; sisters-in-law, Donna (Lester) Banse, Caledonia, and Jean (Greg) Middendorf, Eitzen; and special friends, Tom Murray, Roger "Pops" Neitzel, Todd Korish, Dan "Moochie" O'Heron and Dylan and Derek Klein. He was preceded in death by his father; his step-dad, Joe Miller; a brother in infancy, Davis; two brothers-in-law, Allen Diersen and Wayne Rouhoff; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be held at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred to the St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Air Conditioning Fund. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
