Douglas W. Kjome, 79, formerly of Spring Grove

Douglas W. Kjome died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Gundersen Health Services in La Crosse at the age of 79 years and four months.
He was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Minneapolis, to Olaf and Stella (Doely) Kjome.
He moved with his family in 1945 to Spring Grove where he graduated from high school in 1953. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Princeton, in the South Pacific. He returned to the Spring Grove area and worked for Foremost Dairies, Preston, for over 30 years, in their milk drying plant.
His hobbies were bowling, photography and spending time with his nieces and nephews that were his pride and joy.
He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove, and a member of the Spring Grove American Legion Post #249.
Survivors include his brother, David (Sue) Kjome of Rochester and one sister, Shirley Nesseth, of Clawson, Mich., four nieces and seven nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Treangen and brother, Wesley Kjome.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 15, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, with the Rev. Zane Anderson officiating. Graveside services with military honors by American Legion Post #249 were held at Spring Grove Cemetery.
