Harold G. Lemke, 89, of La Crosse, Wis., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Onalaska Care Center.

He was born in La Crescent on Nov. 11, 1923, to Fred and Anna (Veglahn) Lemke. On June 20, 1953, Harold married Donna Steele, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 2006.

Harold held many jobs throughout his lifetime, but was proud to have worked at Trane Company for many years.

The couple enjoyed the outdoors. Biking became their passion and they spent many hours exploring the biking trails of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. Harold was an avid reader and enjoyed both hearing and telling a good joke.

Survivors include nieces, Sue (Sandra Loock) Dummer of Holmen, Wis., and Linda (Paul) Dunham of Onalaska, Wis.; and great-nieces, Meredith Evenson and Meghan (Ryan) Quinn.

He is also survived by nieces, Maryls Comstock of Houston, Sandy (Mike) Mickleson of Onalaska, and Kay (Rod) Buck of Chaseburg, Wis.; nephews, Ronald (Delores) Lemke and Norman (Lucille) Lemke both of Caledonia, Daniel (Shirley) Lemke of Holmen, and Randy (Sharrie) Lemke and Gary (Sharon) Lemke both of La Crescent; and many other great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Minnie and Esther; three brothers, Victor, Wilbert and Walter; and infant twin sisters.

Funeral services were Jan. 18 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Wis. The Reverend Richard Pamperin officiated and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
