Helen Marie Lund, 69, of Spring Grove, began her eternal life on May 3, 2014, after a two-year illness with cancer.

She was born in Caledonia on Oct. 25, 1944, to Alvin and Nellie (Vraa) Oesterle. She attended school in Barre Mills, Wis., and on March 16, 1967, married Vernon Lund of rural Blackhammer. They lived in rural Blackhammer Township for many years prior to moving to Peterson, Minn., in 1986. She most recently resided at the Manor in Spring Grove and had many friends and family as neighbors and she will be greatly missed by all.

She enjoyed her cats, including many strays that she took care of, her dogs, and canning of all fruits and vegetables. She loved to dance and taught all of her children at a young age how to two-step, waltz and polka and loved to play a round of Euchre.

Together they had four children: James (Nicole) Lund of Spring Grove, Connie (Jerry) Johnson of La Crosse, Wisc, Barbara Lund (fiancé of Scott Langer) of Caledonia and John (Michelle) Lund of Houston.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren Gina, Jacob, Cassie, and Ryan and stepgrandchildren Tyler, Jordyn, Emma, Dylan and stepgreat-grandchild Arora. She is also survived by sisters, Lorraine Thillen, Alys Oesterle, Linda (Joel) Dow, brothers Al (Dorothy) Oesterle, Harold (Lori) Oesterle, LaVern (Bobbi) Oesterle and Wayne Oesterle and numerous neices, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, parents Alvin and Nellie, brothers Kenneth, survived by wife Sandra; Robert, survived by wife Ginny, sister Louise Renk, survived by husband Norman, and sister-in-law Peggy Oesterle.

Visitation was held at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove on Tuesday, May 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. and the funeral was at the Blackhammer Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 7, at 10:30 a.m. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Leonard Liptack. Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
