Helen Marie McCabe, 92, of Caledonia, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.

She was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Caledonia to Anton and Anna (Schwebach) Ernster. Helen married William McCabe on Nov. 12, 1941, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Caledonia. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1989.

Helen enjoyed playing cards and golf. But most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Mary's Church and its Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include her five children, James (Carol) McCabe of Hokah, Joseph (Linda) McCabe of Caledonia, Jean (Dale) Kinstler of Bangor, Wis., Charlie (Patricia) McCabe of Caledonia, and Joanie (Kevin) Vatland of Mabel; and 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike, and a great-grandson, Joshua.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. The Revs. Thomas Jennings and Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
