Irvin "Bud" Kemp, 87, of Illinois and formerly of Spring Grove died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

Bud was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country during WWII and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 249 of Spring Grove.

He worked hard all of his life and retired from Murphy Brothers Pipeline as the original office manager.

He was an avid outdoorsman from an early age, and he loved life, living everyday to the fullest.

Survivors include his son, Jack (Jody) Kemp; a grandson, Joshua Schumacher; and two nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Edith (nee Wrobel) Kemp; a sister, Augustine "Gus" (Joe) Novak; and a brother, Morie Kemp.

A celebration of Bud's life was held Jan. 22 with family and friends meeting at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elgin, Ill., for a committal service.
