Jack Joseph Griffin, 85, of Rochester died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at his home.

Jack was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Spring Grove to John and Vernie (Lane) Griffin. Jack's family moved to Waukon, Iowa, where he attended and graduated from St. Pat's School. After graduating from high school, Jack attended barber school.

On Jan. 31, 1950, in Waukon, Jack married Hope Weymiller. He was a barber for 23 years in Waukon. In 1977, the couple moved to Rochester, where he sold real estate until 1993.

He enjoyed dancing, fishing and spending time at his summer cabin with his family and friends. Jack's greatest love was spending time and creating many memories with his family and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Hope; his children, Michael Griffin of Rochester, Linda Johnson of Waukon, Carey (Mary) Griffin of Rochester and Joe (Kim) Griffin of Rochester; his grandchildren, Catherine (Andy) Sell of Rochester, Greg (Tonya) Griffin of Rochester, Bobby (Lori) Johnson of Waukon, Amy (Doug) Lenzendorf of Eastman, Wis., Jeremy Griffin of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Kelly Griffin also of Scottsdale.

He is further survived by his great-grandchildren, Pieper and Parker Sell, Nathan and Owen Griffin, Cameron and Colton Johnson, and Dawson and Drew Lenzendorf; and by a sister, Karen (Dean) Drew of Waukon.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gregory; and two sisters, Della and Genevieve.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 31 at Pax Christi Catholic Church, Rochester. Interment was at Oakwood East Cemetery, Rochester.
