James Johnson, 35, of Cresco, Iowa, died Monday, June 17, 2013.

He was born Sept. 15, 1977, in Cresco to Terry Johnson and Cecelia Bonnell. He graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco in 1996. He attended NICC in Calmar for automotive courses.

James married Jenny Smith on May 16, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lime Springs, Iowa. For many years, he was a route driver for Culligan. He later opened and operated Johnson Automotive in Cresco.

James was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, boating, working on cars and doing anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny Johnson of Cresco; their four children, Sydney, Justin, Addison and Aubrey, all of Cresco; his mother, Cecelia (Randy) Flugge of Cresco; his father, Terry (Carolyn) Johnson of Lime Springs, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Gail (Robin) Porter of Cresco; his father-in-law, Ron Schroeder of Caledonia; grandparents: Frances Widell of Chester, Iowa, Morris Kalgaarden of Clear Lake, Iowa, Gailen (Judy) Johnson of Decorah, Iowa, and Ralph Flugge of Lime Springs; four siblings, Dean (Tisha) Johnson of West Union, Iowa, Jackie (Corey) Ator of Cresco, Mike (Tonya) Flugge of Cresco, and Andy (Nicole) Flugge of Caledonia; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Widell; grandmothers, Connie Kalgaarden, Helen Flugge and Granny; an aunt, Diana Roberts; and an uncle, Earl Johnson.

A funeral service was held on June 25 at First Lutheran Church, Cresco. The Lindstrom Funeral Home, Cresco, assisted the family. Online condolences may be left at www.lindstromfuneralhomes.com.
