John M. Dahle, 75, of Flint, Mich., and formerly of Clio, died Monday, July 8, 2013, at McLaren of Flint.

He was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Spring Valley to the late Obert and Virginia (Morgan) Dahle. The family moved to Spring Grove, and he grew up there.

He served in the U.S. Air Force. John retired in 1995 from Genesee County Water and Waste Services with 30 years seniority.

He married Nancy Stilwill on Nov. 9, 2001, at Messiah Lutheran Church. John was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he served as a board member in various capacities, taught Sunday school, and sang in the men's choir.

He was also a member of St. Cecilia Society, Flint Mastersingers, Flint Festival Chorus and the Lion's Club.

He served on the Clio school board and was a community leader and volunteer for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; children, John (Paula Casas) Dahle of Evanston, Ill., Cheryl Dahle of Evanston, Joseph Jr. (Jennifer LaDean) Demo of Flint, Johnathan Demo of Indianapolis, Ind.; and five grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie, and a brother, Paul.

Funeral services were July 13 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. Cremation will take place.
