Larry D. Thompson, 71, of Hernando, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the Hospice of Citrus County Unit at Citrus Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in La Crosse, Wis., the son of Maurice and Pauline Thompson. He received a bachelor's degree in education, a master's in biology and a second bachelor's degree in accounting from Winona State. He was a biology and math teacher for 30 years. He taught in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas.

Larry moved to Citrus Hills in 1989 from San Antonio, Texas. He was an avid supporter of the U of F Gators and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Survivors include his significant other of 32 years, John E. Marmish of Hernando; sisters, Nancy Forsyth and her husband Dennis of Houston and Kathy DeWit of Plymouth, Minn.; six nieces and nephews, Patrick Forsyth (Nancy), Houston, Taylor Forsyth (Tami), Eden Prairie, Mitchell Forsyth (Heather), Lakeville, Minn., Danielle Walters (Steve), Houston, Jesse DeWit (Amelia), Plymouth and Ange McCoy (Nathan), Maple Grove; and many great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando on Nov. 9 with Pastor Kenneth Blyth and the Rev. Daniel Lyman presiding.

Heinz Funeral Home and Cremation, Inverness, assisted the family with arrangements.
