Leora Luella Wiemerslage, 85, of Mabel, formerly of Allamakee County, Iowa died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Harmony Healthcare.

She was born March 1, 1928, in La Crosse, Wis., to Herman and Minnie (Trebain) King. She was raised in a log cabin in the New Albin and Dorchester, Iowa, areas.

In 1944, she married Arden Frederick Wiemerslage in Eitzen. Eight children were born to this union.

In 1951, the couple moved to and farmed in the Ogema, Minn., area. Arden died in 1974.

Leora moved to Mabel in 1986 and has resided there until a short time ago. She enjoyed animals, music and her family.

Survivors include eight children, Darlene (Doug) Meyer, Joyce Groth, Sharon Dee, Barbara Christensen, Bruce Wiemerslage, Jimmie Wiemerslage, Shirley (Steve) Koshatka and Lorri (Dean) Peterson; grandchildren, Sandra (Dave) Henning, Jesse (Jason) Kolbe, Deanne (Dave) Williams, Darcee (Eugene) Whitehead, Lowell Christensen, Brian (Kim) Christensen, John Christensen, Kade Wiemerslage, Elizabeth Wiemerslage, Tyler Koshatka, Tiffany Koshatka, Tara Koshatka, Heather Peterson and Phoenix Peterson; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Emily Henning, McKenzie Kolbe, Chantel Boyle, Ivan and Christopher Christensen, Blake and Taylor Christensen, Jakob Vertec and Shana Hagen; great-great-grandson Jude Seddon; a sister, Ruth Hemeseth; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Alfred Shefelbine; brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Rachel King; grandsons, Arnold Christensen and Harold Dee; and sons-in-law, David Dee and Dennis Groth.

A Celebration of Life was March 29 at the Mabel First Lutheran Church in Mabel. Burial will be at a later date.
