Lillian Eileen Bieber, 77, of Waukon, Iowa, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
She was born Feb. 11, 1936, to Inga Olson Kvamme and Henry Kvamme on a farm north of Decorah, Iowa. She was baptized in April of 1936 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah.
After attending rural schools, she graduated from Decorah High School in 1954. She then worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone as an operator in Decorah.
Nov. 7, 1954, she married Peter W. Bieber at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. They lived and farmed a mile east of Waukon for many years. To this union six children were born, including Susan Eileen, Daniel Peter, Thomas William, Judith Lillian, Charles Joseph and Mary Rachel.
Lillian taught Sunday School for many years at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon and was a member of the Ladies Circles there.
For over 40 years, she brought produce and flowers from her garden to the Allamakee County Fair. She enjoyed gardening, furniture refinishing, baking, sewing, reading and listening to music.
Survivors include her husband, Peter; her children, Susan (Miles) Schulte of Spring Grove, Thomas Bieber of Onalaska, Wis., Judy Brozovich of Scottsdale, Ariz., Charles (Jill) Bieber of Waukon, and Mary (Doug) Huinker of Postville, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Bieber of Waukon; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret (Bill) Thom of Jesup and Florence Wennes of Decorah; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; a son-in-law, Tim Brozovich; her parents; and three brothers-in-law.
Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family with arrangements. A celebration of life was held April 2 at the Waukon Banquet Center with Chris Leppert officiating. Committal service was held at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
