Lucas Michael Myhre, 27, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in Riverton, Wyo.

Lucas was born to Russell and LaNae (Tellinghuisen) Myhre on Feb. 6, 1985, in Elbow Lake, Minn.

From an early age, Lucas demonstrated a kind heart and generous spirit, and he was well known for his gentle "bear hugs."

He accepted the responsibility of being a single father of four children with his usual good nature and humor, noting recently that it "took an hour" to get them all in the car to go somewhere.

According to his mother, Lucas "would do anything for those little boys," including taking them fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a loving father and was proud of the fact that they were all "really good kids."

From the age of five, Lucas had a love for the sport of soccer, usually playing a defensive position as goalie or sweeper. He was chosen to play in Denver at an international soccer tournament at the age of 11. Lucas loved going to the mountains, riding his bike, and spending time with his family.

Lucas had been employed in the oil fields of Wyoming and North Dakota, having worked for Cyclone, Key Energy and M & M Well Service.

Shortly preceding his death, he had been promoted to the position of pulling unit operator with Key Energy.

The memory of our beloved Lucas will remain forever - as a loyal friend who always offered a shoulder to lean on, as a hard worker, and as a loving presence among his family. His smile (which could brighten up any dark day!) will never be forgotten.

May Lucas now rest in peace, in a far kinder and safer world than that which he left behind.

Survivors include his mother, LaNae Myhre (LeRoy Lange); a brother, Jason (Teryl) Myhre; a sister, Jessica (James Witt) Myhre; and four young sons - Santiago, age 5, Scye, age 4, Stephen, age 2, and Slayde, age 1.

He also leaves behind his grandparents, Owen and Mildred Myhre of Spring Grove, and Jan Tellinghuisen of Battle Lake, Minn.; two nephews, Tyrel Myhre and Jason Myhre Jr.; two nieces, Anastacia Ellison and Taylor Myhre; a step-brother, Eion Lange; his aunts and uncles, Bonnie (Myhre) and Bruce Williams, Laurie (Myhre) and Tom Knoke, Larry (Sandy) Tellinghuisen, and Loren Tellinghuisen; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Myhre; his grandfather, Del Tellinghuisen; and an uncle, Lee Tellinghuisen.

The family requests that memorials be sent for the benefit of Lucas' children to Laurie Knoke, 2 Cari Ct., DeKalb, IL 60115.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 at Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church, 169 Dorchester Dr., Dorchester, Iowa (in rural Spring Grove).
